Safety & Helmets

Safety sets the pace.

Tech Inspection, the Driver Meeting, Safety Briefing, controlled releases and approved protection are required at every PMC event.

Every event

One vehicle on the Course

Controlled releases from the Start Line. No wheel-to-wheel racing, drifting or drag racing.

Mandatory safety sequence

Tech Inspection, Course Walk, Driver Meeting and Safety Briefing are required before driving.

Trained Course team

Approved Event Staff are assigned to Corner Stations with radios, red flags, high-visibility vests and fire extinguishers.

Controlled spectator access

Drivers are age 18+ with a valid driver license. Spectators are permitted only when specifically approved and must remain in the designated Spectator Area. Emergency Access must remain clear at all times.

Approved helmet required

Every driver and passenger must wear an approved, properly fitted helmet whenever a vehicle is operating on the Course.

Participant conduct

PMC may stop runs, disqualify or remove anyone whose behavior is unsafe, disruptive, abusive, intentionally drifting, ignoring officials, or risking damage to people or property.

Helmet requirements

Accepted standards

  • Snell SA2020 or newer
  • Snell M2020 or newer
  • FIA 8859-2015 or newer
  • FIA 8860-2010 or newer

Transition: Snell SA2015 and M2015 helmets may be accepted through December 31, 2026, if they remain in good condition and retain a legible original certification label.

Not accepted

DOT-only, ECE-only, novelty, bicycle and uncertified helmets are not permitted.

Helmets with shell damage, impact evidence, damaged padding or straps, failed fasteners, or a missing or unreadable certification label will not pass Tech Inspection.

Fit and eye protection

The helmet must fit securely, provide adequate peripheral vision and have a working chin strap that remains fastened on the Course.

Full-face helmets are strongly recommended. Open-wheel vehicles and vehicles without a full-size windshield require a full-face helmet plus an appropriate face shield or approved eye protection.

All helmets are subject to inspection and final approval by PMC Tech Inspection officials. Participants must provide their own approved helmet unless registration specifically states that loaner helmets are available.
