PMC Classes, PAX & Solo Points
How PMC classifies a vehicle, how PAX factors work, and how the 2026 PMC Autocross Solo Points series is scored — in plain English.

1. PMC Classes
PMC class is based on modification points plus mandatory class-defining triggers. PMC-2026-v1 uses seven competition classes:
| Class | Name | How a vehicle gets there |
|---|---|---|
| STREET | Street | 0–2 modification points |
| ST | Street Touring | 3–6 modification points |
| SP | Street Prepared | 7–9 modification points |
| SM | Street Modified | 10–18 modification points |
| M | Modified | 19+ modification points, or a class-defining change that requires M |
| EV | Electric | All electric vehicles — modifications never move an EV to another class |
| OPEN | Open / Special | Genuine Open/Special vehicles — karts, kit cars, formula cars, buggies, prototype or exhibition builds (no Solo Points) |
2. How Your Class Is Set
Every declared modification is worth points, and the total sets the class using the point bands above. Some modifications are class-defining: they set a minimum class no matter how many points the vehicle has, and they always apply.
| Class-defining change | Minimum class |
|---|---|
| Below-200TW or R-compound tires | SP |
| Larger/hybrid turbo, supercharger upgrade, or boost substantially above stock | SM |
| Major internal engine build | SM |
| Drivetrain conversion | SM |
| Large functional wing, splitter, diffuser package, or non-stock widebody | SM |
| Polycarbonate/Lexan windows | SM |
| Lightweight doors, roof, or structural body panels | SM |
| Added turbo or supercharger | M |
| Engine swap | M |
| Non-DOT racing slicks | M |
| Gutted interior | M |
| Sequential or dog-box transmission | M |
| Full performance cage, tube frame, or purpose-built structure | M |
A vehicle's factory performance does not set a minimum PMC class — it is accounted for by the vehicle's individual PAX factor (see PAX below). A vehicle that can't be matched confidently to the factory database goes to NEEDS REVIEW — its class is never guessed.
3. Level 1 / Level 2
Level 1 and Level 2 describe the preparation level of a STREET, ST, SP, SM or M vehicle — Level 1 for lighter preparation, Level 2 for heavier preparation or a class-defining change. They are display/preparation levels shown alongside the class. They are not separate Solo Points classes.
4. PAX
Each vehicle has an individual SCCA/RTP PAX class and factor, based on its exact year, make, model and trim, from the official 2026 SCCA/RTP PAX table.
PAX Time = Raw Time × Individual PAX Factor
- Finishing positions in every class (STREET, ST, SP, SM, M, EV and OPEN) are ranked by Raw Time.
- PAX Time is used only for the PAX Overall table.
- An administrator-verified PAX class/factor takes priority when one is assigned.
- If a verified PAX is missing, the vehicle remains NEEDS REVIEW and is not scored until it is resolved.
- NEEDS REVIEW is never automatically converted to OPEN.
5. PMC Autocross Solo Points
The 2026 Solo Points series consists of 6 points-paying rounds. Each driver's best 5 results count toward the final standings. Points are awarded by finishing position within class, by Raw Time (OPEN does not receive Solo Points):
| Position | Points |
|---|---|
| 1st | 25 |
| 2nd | 20 |
| 3rd | 16 |
| 4th | 13 |
| 5th | 11 |
| 6th | 10 |
| 7th | 9 |
| 8th | 8 |
| 9th | 7 |
| 10th | 6 |
| 11th | 5 |
| 12th | 4 |
| 13th | 3 |
| 14th | 2 |
| 15th or lower | 1 |
6. OPEN Class
Genuine Open/Special vehicles run in their own standalone OPEN class and are listed in the event results by raw/best run time. OPEN vehicles do not receive Solo Points, receive no PAX factor and are excluded from PAX Overall.
7. NEEDS REVIEW
NEEDS REVIEW is not a competition class. A vehicle flagged NEEDS REVIEW receives no Solo Points until it is resolved. Documented administrator review and override remain available at any time to resolve it.
8. 2026 Rules Freeze and Driver Feedback
The 2026 SCCA/RTP PAX table, Solo Points table, and best-5-of-6 format are fixed through the end of the 2026 Solo Points season.
Updated September 26, 2026: PMC removed the factory-performance class floor. PMC classes are now determined by modification points and mandatory class-defining triggers, with individual PAX used for the PAX Overall table (class positions are by raw time since October 2026).
PMC welcomes driver questions, feedback, and class-rule proposals throughout the season. Feedback will be collected and reviewed for possible changes beginning with the 2027 season. Any approved 2027 rule changes will be published before the new Solo Points season begins.
The following are still allowed during 2026 and do not constitute a rule change:
- Correcting inaccurate vehicle information.
- Correcting a classification so it follows the already-frozen 2026 rules.
- Resolving a NEEDS REVIEW vehicle.
- Applying a documented administrator override.
- Fixing a software bug that incorrectly applies the frozen rules.
