What is autocross?
The easiest way to drive your own car fast — legally and safely. PMC runs autocross events at St. Lucie Fairgrounds in Fort Pierce for drivers from across the Treasure Coast, Port St. Lucie, Stuart and West Palm Beach.
It's you, your car and the clock
Autocross is a timed driving event on a short course marked with traffic cones, set up on a big paved lot. Only one car is on the course at a time, so there's no racing side by side — you drive the course, the timing system records your time, and you try to beat it on your next run.
Bring the car you already drive
Most people come in their everyday car, exactly as it is. You don't need a race car, special tires or any modifications. Your car gets a quick safety check (Tech Inspection) at the event, and PMC places it in the right group automatically — you don't have to work anything out.
No experience, no racing license
You need to be 18 or older with a valid driver's license — that's it. First-timers walk the course with an instructor before the runs start, everyone attends the drivers' meeting, and experienced instructors can ride along to help.
Lots of driving
At PMC's 2026 events most drivers got about 9 to 12 timed runs in a day. Every run is timed, and your best run is your result — so you can learn and get faster all day.
Safe by design
Wide open pavement, cones instead of walls, low speeds compared to a race track, and one car at a time. You'll need your own approved helmet — see Safety & Helmets for what's accepted. There are no passengers except a PMC instructor who is coaching you.
